Ophthalmologist – Surgeon

Dr. Dimitra Oikonomou is an ophthalmologist based in Trikala, Greece, with extensive experience in both clinical and surgical ophthalmology. Since 2024 she has been practicing privately at the ophthalmology clinic “OPHTHALMOS-DIATHLASI”, providing comprehensive eye care services.

She is a graduate of the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) with a grade of “EXCELLENT” and a PhD candidate of the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in the field of retinal vascular diseases.

With a scholarship from the Hellenic Ophthalmological Society, she attended the LANCASTER COURSE IN OPHTHALMOLOGY Massachusetts Eye and Ear HARVARD MEDICAL SCHOOL.

At the same time, she holds the certificate of specialized training “ORGANIZATION AND MANAGEMENT OF HEALTH UNITS” from the Center for Training and Lifelong Learning of the University of Athens (NKUA).

Her commitment to the field of ophthalmology is also reflected in her participation and presentations at national and international conferences and attendance at specialist training seminars. Her studies have been published in prestigious scientific journals, such as the European Journal of Ophthalmology and International Ophthalmology, focusing on conditions such as diabetic retinopathy and vitreous detachments.

Her multilingual training in English and German allows her to serve a wide range of patients and keep abreast of international developments in ophthalmology. Dr. Oikonomou’s commitmentto patients and continuing education ensures that each patient receives the highest standard of care.

Dr Oikonomou works in collaboration with certified private clinics for the handling of surgical cases.
